Summary

In this course you will gain an overview on how to create and edit 3D conceptual Solids in AutoCAD. You will learn how to create solids, use the Dynamic UCS tool, change size and shape of solids using grips, create 2D sections, and rendered images.

Student note: The 3D tools in AutoCAD are primarily for conceptual design; however, you can create usable objects and create working drawings from them. Autodesk has "vertical" programs, such as Autodesk Inventor for mechanical design, Autodesk Civil 3D for Civil design, Revit and other products for AEC design. These products provide the user with much greater design capability, productivity, and flexibility within their specific disciplines.

For advanced rendering and animation, you would use programs such as Autodesk 3d Max Design or Autodesk 3ds Max.

Who Should Attend

The 3D Drawing and Modeling class introduces users who are proficient with AutoCAD's 2D commands to the concepts and methods of 3D modeling. The course gives a thorough grounding in 3D fundamentals and explores the main features of AutoCAD's advanced 3D workspace.

Objectives

Upon completion of the class, the student will have an understanding of the capabilities of the 3D tools available.
